Why do American’s hate Socialism?
Because they don't know what socialism is nor do they understand that they have socialism in their country now. They (the GOP media outlets) call Obama a socialist because the know it taps into a strange fear of Communism. They know that socialism is a stick they can beat him. I thought I would outline a little the differences between the pre-eminent forms of social governance in as simple manner as possible.
Socialism
a theory or system of social organization in which the means of production and distribution of goods are owned and controlled collectively or by the government.
Communism
a theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state.
Capitalism
an economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange of wealth is made and maintained chiefly by private individuals or corporations, esp. as contrasted to cooperatively or state-owned means of wealth.
Currently, in the USA, they are a federal republic with democratic principles under a capitalistic economic system and socialism for needed services.
Those needed services are things such as:
Military, Police, Public Education, State, federal and city infrastructures are a mixture of socialism and capitalism working together and welfare.
The only area where they are lacking socialism with needed services is their medical system . Most people have no idea what kind of government they really have, how that all breaks down in the most simple terms, which would make it blatantly easy to see the contradictions.
I really wish the bashers of universal health care would come to the realisation that socialism for needed services can be a very good thing for the welfare of their country.
Plus, universal health care is guaranteed in their constitution in the preamble.
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquillity, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and their posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Anyone who says the preamble doesn't count doesn't realize, if that is ignored, then they must ignore the whole constitution. Every word counts.
"Promote the General Welfare"
Some say that the founding fathers didn't mean "promote the general welfare" meant welfare for the people. There is no way on earth they could envision the practice of medicine today that takes up billions of dollars. Welfare of the country is indeed part of the welfare for the people.
"We the People"
They keep forgetting, "We the People" is paramount to everything else. Their constitution guarantees the country look out for the people and their interests.
Why am I writing about this? Glenn Beck being a dick? Not this time, although he has just gone on an anti-Semitic rant against George Soros. Probably not the best target to have a go at, a billionaire Jewish holocaust survivor, no way you can come out looking good on that one Glenn.
I am writing about it because it popped into my head.
