Clatterburg (sic)

Clattenburg
If you don't like football then feel free to disregard this blog now... Just wanted to voice my opinion on Saturday's game between Man Utd and Spurs at Old Trafford. Obviously I am going to have a moan about the second goal but before I do that let me caveat my thoughts by acknowledging:

  • We were already losing 1-0 so the referee's decision possibly wouldn't have altered the result
  • Nani possibly could have had a penalty decision from Kaboul's challenge

Yes, the decision was a shocking one. Nani, practically picks up the ball from his position on the floor and it's NOT a freekick? Or did Clattenburg not see that? If he didn't then the assistant linesman surely did... What really winds me up is the just the number of outrageous decisions that have gone against us (and many other teams I'm sure) at Old Trafford in the last few years. No wonder we haven't won there in 21 years. Even two season ago when we were 0-2, events still conspired for us to somehow lose that game.

Lots of fans, pundits and even Rio Ferdinand have commented about "playing to the whistle" which I don't disagree with, however in reality can players hear that with 75,000 people in attendance? Also, if you were Gomes would you have any reason not to think that a freekick had been awarded?

I'm just annoyed that that was probably the worst United side we have played in 10 years and we still couldn't beat them even though we played some really good football. Hopefully we reverse this trend at White Hart Lane...
