Another year
I must admit, when I was getting up early for work this morning my thoughts did turn to that Monday morning feeling when you wake up and realise the fun's over, you need to pack up and make the long arduous trip home. I read various reviews of this year's festival, for the most part good, and whilst I can't honestly admit that I wished I had gone this year I am already thinking about how I will feel two years from now.
The festival is undoubetedly big business and apparently tickets were nearly £200 this year, yet its appeal lingers to a lot of people, young and old. I do think some of the headline choices of recent years have veered much more towards the mainstream and I'm not sure how much of that is down to Michael Eavis' daughter, Emily, taking more of an active role in the planning and running of the event. I don't want to be one of those in the "Glastonbury's sold out" brigade, but part me thinks rather than getting bigger and bigger each year, maybe reduce the size of the festival, kill the 24/7 BBC coverage, reduce the VIP's and literally ban anyone from arriving by helicopter. Maybe if they tried this in 2013, they might get a tighter, more focused event. That sounds like something I'd like to go to.
